According to an announcement by Walmart Inc (WMT) earlier this week, the company is launching a 3D virtual shopping tour on its website, which will allow clients to browse and select a set of items for purchase, as the retailer has been seeking to improve customer experience.

Walmart shares closed lower for the second time in the past six trading sessions in New York on Thursday. It has also been the steepest daily loss since May 31st. The stock went down 1.19% ($1.03) to $85.86, with the intraday high and the intraday low being at $87.29 and $85.69 respectively.

Shares of Walmart Inc have retreated 13.05% so far in 2018 compared with a 1.60% gain for the underlying index, S&P 500 (SPX).

In 2017, Walmart’s stock surged 42.87%, thus, it outperformed the S&P 500, which registered a 19.42% return.

The innovation will allow clients to take a virtual shopping tour of a nonexistent one-bedroom apartment, where some 70 items from national brands as well as Walmarts own offerings are presented. With a simple click on a particular item, customers will be able to purchase it from Walmarts website.

According to Reuters, in July the retailer will also add a “Buy the Room” feature, through which clients will be allowed to add numerous items to their shopping cart and buy the entire curated look.

In February, Walmart’s Store No 8 acquired virtual reality start-up Spatialand in order to create VR products for Walmart’s websites as well as traditional stores.

According to CNN Money, the 28 analysts, offering 12-month forecasts regarding Walmart Inc’s stock price, have a median target of $93.00, with a high estimate of $108.00 and a low estimate of $85.00. The median estimate represents an 8.32% upside compared to the closing price of $85.86 on June 28th.

The same media also reported that 16 out of 31 surveyed investment analysts had rated Walmart Inc’s stock as “Hold”, while 11 – as “Buy”.
