The fourth-largest wireless carrier in the U.S. – T-Mobile U.S. Inc. revealed in an official statement that it will let its customers use Wi-Fi in order to make phone calls and send text messages even in dead spots in their homes and offices. According to the companys statement, free in-home Wi-Fi antennas will be provided to customers, enabling their phones to make calls and send text messages over Wi-Fi.

As the mobile carrier itself revealed, T-Mobile is offering a Personal CellSpot only a day after a new iPhone with Wi-Fi-calling capability was presented by Apple Inc. Now, the U.S.-based mobile carriers customers will receive a device similar to a Wi-Fi router for a deposit of $25. The device can be installed in the subscribers homes or offices and will boost the signals strength inside.

As reported by Mashable, T-Mobiles Chief Executive Officer Mr. John Legere commented on the CellSpot device: “Its not just a router. It does something very special.” Mr. Legere did not specify how the device works exactly, but the company explained in a blog post that the new service is focused on prioritizing phone calls and “designed so that T-Mobile voice calls maintain their clarity − no matter how much streaming music, video or games are coming through”.

The company has been recently focused on closing the gap between it and Sprint Corp., currently the third-largest wireless carrier in the U.S. The two companies have been leading a price war after their negotiations over an eventual merger collapsed in August this year.

Now T-Mobile is putting its efforts into luring customers, who use only mobile phones and dont have landlines. On the other hand, there are also some subscribers, who have kept their home phones due to dead zones inside their houses which make it impossible to receive calls on mobile phones.

T-Mobile U.S. Inc. rose by 0.79% on Wednesday to close at $30.52 per share in New York, marking a one-year change of +20.82%. The company is valued at $24.63 billion. According to CNN Money, the 20 analysts offering 12-month price forecasts for T-Mobile U.S. Inc. have a median target of $36.50, with a high estimate of $45.00 and a low estimate of $25.00. The median estimate represents a +19.59% increase from the last price of $30.52.
