According to an internal memo, cited by Reuters, NBCUniversal, the media conglomerate owned by Comcast Corporation (CMCSA), has acquired a stake in broadcaster Euronews. At the same time, Noah Oppenheim has been named as NBC News President. No financial details of the deal, however, were revealed in the document.

Comcast shares closed higher for a fourth straight session on Tuesday. The stock went up 0.50% ($0.38) to $76.09, after touching an intraday high of $76.23, or a level not seen since January 26th ($76.87). In the week ended on February 12th the shares of the media giant lost 0.15% of their market value compared to a week ago, which marked a second consecutive period of decrease, but yet, the smallest one since the week ended on May 22nd 2016. The stock has extended its advance to 0.89% so far during the current month, following a 9.23% surge in January. For the entire 2016, the shares of the NASDAQ-listed company gained 22.36%.

As a result of the deal, NBCUniversal will be able to expand its reach to 277 million new households in 13 languages throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

According to the memo, Noah Oppenheim, the person in charge of “Today” morning program on NBC, is to succeed Deborah Turness, who assumed the President role in 2013. She, on the other hand, is to be appointed as the first president of NBC News International. Both executives are expected to report to Andy Lack, the Chairman of NBC News.
