In a report published on Wednesday, HSBC upgraded AT&T to “Buy” from “Hold” previously, while analyst Sunil Rajgopal revised up the price target on the stock from $38 to $41.

AT&T shares closed higher for a second consecutive trading session on Wednesday. It has also been the sharpest daily surge since February 26th. The stock went up 1.89% ($0.66) to $35.56, after touching an intraday high at $35.84, or a price level not seen since March 23rd ($35.99).

In the week ended on March 25th the shares of the communication service provider lost 6.22% of their market value compared to a week ago, which marked a second consecutive period of decrease. It has also been the worst performance since the week ended on October 15th 2017.

The stock has pared its loss to 2.04% so far during the current month, following a 3.07% slump in February. The latter has been a second consecutive month of losses.

For the entire past year, the shares of the NYSE-listed company retreated 8.58%, following a 23.60% surge in 2016.

The decision followed similar moves at other research firms. On March 5th Zacks Investment Research upgraded AT&T from “Hold” to “Buy” and set a price target of $41.

Earlier, on February 7th, Argus reiterated a “Buy” rating on the stock, while revising down its price target to $36.83 from $48.00 previously.

And, on January 10th Vetr upgraded AT&T to “Buy” from “Hold” previously, while setting a price objective of $39.60.

According to CNN Money, the 23 analysts, offering 12-month forecasts regarding AT&T Inc’s stock price, have a median target of $41.00, with a high estimate of $48.00 and a low estimate of $26.00. The median estimate is a 15.30% surge compared to the closing price of $35.56 on March 28th.

The same media also reported that 17 out of 26 surveyed investment analysts had rated AT&T Inc’s stock as “Hold”, while 5 – as “Buy”. On the other hand, 1 analyst had recommended selling the stock.
